Black Friday Deals

Christmas is less than 5 months away, yes I know it seems like it was only yesterday and you are probably still paying off your many purchases from last year but it's time to start getting ready for this years big event. We are trying to watch our spending a lot better this year and will be working harder to budget. We have begun watching the flyers and websites every week in search for the great deals. We have been working on a wish list of items the kids would like to have and are just waiting for the hot deals. Typically the best deals hit on black Friday the day after thanksgiving when every retailer kicks their holiday push for business into high gear. Historically this is the day that retailers begin to make a profit for the year. Using websites like blackfriday.biz allows you to find out what all the retailers will be offering on black Friday and the best part is you can purchase them right on line so no more overnight camp outs in the parking lots waiting in line for the doors to open up. Another bonus you don't have to pick and choose your deals between retailers because you are shopping in the comfort of your own home you don't have to drive between stores. This season we are shopping for a new lap top and a digital camera, normally we see great deals on everything electronic from
Staples. We are eagerly anticipating the deals and the savings, for sure this is going to be a Merry Christmas, where will you be on Black Friday? With the economy the way it is this year the deals are sure to be better than ever before as retailers will be hungry to drive their top line and will be out to score the best sales results and we can all be the benefactors of these deals.

Ooops!

We arrived home after a day of fun, the kids had bible camp this morning and we went to a movie " Kung Fu Panda " this afternoon and then we went shopping for some dance gear for the kids to start back to classes. When we got home tonight and had supper we went into the basement and noticed it was full of water. It had been raining since early afternoon and the pump was accidently left unplugged which means it doesn't work very well. I got it plugged back in and the water has receeded so it's time to let things dry out.

Hello Crazy People

While camping last weekend, my SIL and BIL decided to do something I didn't even consider for a moment. Leaping off a bridge about 70' above the water, it looked pretty crazy from my point of view. They each went about 3 times each and survived but it was more than I could stomach to try myself.

Seafood Delights

Living on the east coast there is so much emphasis on the sea, even when it comes to our food choices. The Fishing Industry is such a big part of our history and culture that you see it embedded in our culture. There are so many great seafood dishes to try it is incredible for the taste buds. One of my favorite is a very simple dish created with Salmon. You would start by baking a salmon of course heavy on the butter and coated with a garlic seasoning and chive. The other end is rice cooked with a bit of soya sauce in the water and a package of onion soup mix as well. Really simple. You serve the salmon over the bed of rice which you can ad other veggies of your choice if you so desire sometimes we will cook up some red or green peppers and chopped onion to add to the dinner. I think it might still need a little work to compete with the greats at the cook off's but it is a favorite of our's. What are some of your favorite seafood dish I would love to here from you for some new ideas. There are many great seafoodCook off events, like the "Great American Seafood Cook Off" in Louisiana where they match up the great chef's from all over and see who will be crowned the king of seafood. It's a great event that can give you all kinds of ideas for new recipe's to try in your home.

Getting into more renovations

I hear we are moving onto the downstairs bathroom for more renovations. I guess I really figured it out when my wife came in after I cleaned the bathroom and began ripping the wall paper off the walls. We worked on it for about an hour and had all the trim and wall paper down. I will have to fill in the holes and we will give it a fresh look with some new paint and boarder this time. As always things will look great when they are all done.

Seafood Cook Off Experience

Living on the East coast you have to be a seafood lover, recently I discovered a contest to win a trip to New Orleans for a wonderful experience filled with lots of fine dining. It is all in celebration of the Great American Seafood Cook Off, all you have to do to enter is visit the site WWW.GreatAmericanSeafoodcookoff.com and click on the red button that says "Enter to Win". You'll get a look at the 5 finalist entries seafood dishes from the contest and you can also view the recipe that created them. I would have to say my favorite from the cook off would have to be Chef Paul Anders from Colorado and his recipe for Colorado Striped Bass Panzanella. I'm particular to Bass and don't really care for Shrimp all that much so it really made the choice easy for me. I also like the added ingrediants of cucumber and tomato, for me I might have to find a substitute for the vinegar or perhaps use a little less as I don't care to much for the flavor it gives. This is a great looking recipe that is sustainable and allows you to use some of your own garden vegetables or local vegetables in the recipe and can be created quickly in your own home. What would your cook off favorite be? There are 5 great choices for you to choose from including the Striped Bass I mentioned earlier along with Pan Roasted Glazed Rockfish with Peas and Carrots, Mississippi Redfish Courtboullion
with Seafood Dirty Rice, Texas Gulf Shrimp and Louisiana Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet.

Puppy Training

Finally after almost 2 months we are starting to see some improvement with our puppy. She now will most times will go down to the front door and whine or scratch at the door. Mind you she doesn't give much warning so if we are not right on top of her she will leave her deposit at the front door for us to clean up but at least it is there and not all around the house. Anyone with success stories or tips to help us more would be greatly appreciated.

At the beach

WE visited the Cape Tormintine beach while away on vacation and wondered how everyone would get along. It was great watching them run around the beach together and it was really a great experience. This day was filled with sand castles, playing in the water, and playing in the water. We capped off the afternoon by going to the local icecream store about 2 minutes away from the beach for a great treat, yummy peanut butter crunch that I had.

Crazy Shirt Day

One of the exciting events we had at the campground as part of Kohl's party was Crazy shirt/had day. Although it was a bit wet all the kids had a great time trying on Nana's collection of crazy shirts and hats. They all had a blast and we will certainly have to make sure we ad this to the annual summer vacation planner to keep up the tradition.

Look, 2 wheels

Kohl was bugging as he is turning 6 to get his training wheels off his bike, we took them off and Nana and Mom worked with him for an hour or so to get him comfortable with balancing his weight. He was very proud of himself for accomplishing this and by the next day he was doing very good. He had a few spills and war wounds but he thought they were all very cool and kept on trucking.

Mom and Pup

We had the opportunity to re-unite our puppy with her Mom while visiting with my family. They had a few moments of tense feelings but after a few minutes they were playing and having a great time. They even curled up together for a rest, it was very sweet to watch them interact with each other.

Paint Ball Adventure

What an exciting explosion the sport of Paint Ball has had over the last number of years. It has grown from a small sport to a world wide phenoman. My son recently started going out with his friends to a local paint ball site. With his growing interest, we find ourselves searching for more gear to upgrade his paint ball guns, paint balls and other gear. We have turned on-line to find all the best brands like tippmann. Zephyrpaintball.com is one of the leading on-line services and they pride themselves in providing an easy to use site along with secure checkout and fast shipping.

The sun bathing beauties

I was able to catch this shot of the bathing beauties, I was very proud of my wife for getting out on the beach in her new bikini. Her and her Mom took advantage of the kids enjoying the beach to catch some sun. We have been together for 11 years and I have never seen her in a bikini and I will be the first one to tell you she certainly made it look good.

The sky's opened Up

Wednesday night the sky's opened up with a huge thunder and lightning storm and a down pour. Little did we know that this was a sign of things to come for us over the next few days as we got a lot of rain. We managed to entertain ourselves inside the tent with some coloring, Nintendo DS and a few games of rock paper scissor as Carrie went down to the laundry area to catch up our dirty clothes and wet towels.

An expected Visitor

When we got up one morning we had an unexpected visitor in our van. This little bird must have flown into the van in the evening while we were getting things out of the back hatch. He was in the van all night and certainly left his mark on the van with little droppings all over the place. It took a few minutes to coax him out of the van but he seemed pretty happy to be back on his way.

Hot Honeymoon

My wife and I are beginning to plan an exotic vacation for just the two of us, we have never even had our real honeymoon yet. We both decided that we would like to have an exciting vacation filled with romance, great food, beach, sunbathing and starlight nights. It was important for us to find an option that could find all these criteria. Karisma Hotels offer various vacation options to meet everyones desires and wants. One interesting option is that they also have a site dedicated to families with activites focusing on kids needs and interests while still having interesting things for the parents to do as well. We have begun to look into cancun hotels for a wonderful exotic opportunity.

The Fry Guy

Another hilarious moment from our camping trip was when Blake found this tent box from one of the other member's of the camping crew. He slid his body into the box and began walking around the campsites in it making silly noises. We thought we should cut holes so he could see where he was going and also for his arms so when he fell he could catch himself. He wore this everynight for the week we were camping and it was hilarious to see.

Where's those chicken legs

Here's another character that joined us last week on vacation, the chicken man. Carrie's uncle Brian joined our camping crew on the weekends and one day he arrived with the cool chicken hat. This chicken hat provided quite a bit of entertainment for the crew all weekend long. The Chicken hat moved from person to person through the course of the weekend but no one wore it quite as good as Brian.

New Vacation Toy

We try to get a new vacation toy for the kids every year, this year we got what's called a water trampoline, it can be used on land or in the water. We used it down at the beach a few days and had a lot of fun, everyone took a turn on it including the kids and the older folks. It was a big hit and we all had a lot of fun with it.

A great family vacation

What a great vacation we are planning, with 4 kids it's been hard to get our big family vacation into disney world. Now that we are finished having babies and our youngest is getting to the age that he will also enjoy the trip we are starting to plan our family trip. We are searching for Disney tickets for all the fantastic attractions that are available, we are thinking as this is a once in a lifetime trip for us we are going to make it a 2 week trip to ensure we take in every possible attraction, ride and dining experience available to be had. We are getting very excited about the upcoming trip.

This was before Vacation

Poor little Blakie was tired out before we even got to vacation, he passed out in the van on the way to Amherst. I think he was just trying to bank some sleep because he stayed up pretty late everynight while we were camping. He had a ton of fun playing at the park, the beach and the campground. I really enjoyed getting to spend the time with him as with work I don't get to spend as much time with the kids as I would like to

Take me too Dad

Well we are getting back from vacation so it's time to start getting all the updates and pictures on-line to share. Here is a picture of our puppy getting ready to go, this was her first big trip with us and she did really well with the trip. She only didn't like it when it was cold or wet, she would then whine to go back into her kennel with her blankets and sookey toys. She's still just a baby and I'm sure she will enjoy next years trip.
