Renovation heaven

We are working hard on getting our room all done for summer so we can focus on spending time with the kids in the great outdoors. We are currently getting ready to get the electrical work done. In the coming weeks we will be working on the ceiling, floor and finishing the walls. It will be great when it's all finished.

Last Minute Vacation

Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing to be able to travel the world, without a care in the world be able to pick up on the drop of a dime and take off. For so many of us this is only a dream and we believe it could never happen. Just imagine flying off to the UK and traveling through all the beautiful old cities and taking in the culture from a different country. I've often day dreamed of taking a trip to London to have a carefree vacation with just my wife and me. We could take in some of the great theatre shows like the popular Lion King or Mama Mia. When we are finished with that we could take in the panaoramic views of London on top of the London Eye, I hear it is a fantastic way to take in the sites from a different perspective. I've always seen the double decker buses in the movies and thought it would be so exciting to travel on the top level and cruice around one of the scenic tours. Another fantastic site to checkout would be Royale Palace home to the royal family, being from Canada we are somewhat disassociated with the true legend of the royal family but I think it would still be very interesting to take a tour. It would be a real treat to see all the fantastic art and historic artifacts that are on display there. Where would you travel to if you had the opportunity to travel anywhere you would like to go on the drop of a hat. Planning ahead isn't always the cheapest way to travel sometimes you can get fantastic last minute hotel rooms and travel packages. If everything isn't booked you can save a lot of money by going last minute. Of course this type of travel isn't for everyone but if you are of the fly by the seat of your pants adventourous type this can be a fantastic opportunity for you to save and make fantastic memories

How Long is too long to Race

Coming up this Sunday is the Coca Cola 600 at Lowe's motor speedway, what will happen in this event, will we see an unlikely winner like last years Jamie McMurray or will one of the most consistant Lowe's drivers, convienently Jimmy Johnson who's sponsor is Lowe's return to victory Lane? The big question why do we need to see a 600 mile race. I'm a huge Nascar fan but to sit and watch 5-6 hours of racing is a bit much. Wouldn't it be something in face of the energy crisis we are all in if in good faith they shortened every Nascar race by 100 miles. How much gas would this save, 43 super stock cars. This would shorten the races considerably and no doubt increase attendance both at the track and at home on the TV as people are time starved and sometimes can't handle that much.

Doing the sun dance

Tommorrow is going to be hot and sunny, perfect weather for me, I have a couple of outdoor projects that need finished and I'm planning on getting going first thing in the morning. I have 2 doors to paint and we are painting burgandy, the girl at the Depot was shaking her head in disbelief at our plan. She claims it is very hard to paint with this color but we want to match our shutters so there isn't much choice on that one. I have been waiting all week to get at it because it is going to take at least a couple of days to get the job done because the dry time for the paint is approx 12 - 16 hours between coats so really only 1 coat a day is realistic. I'm going to get up at the crack of crow tommorrow and get them washed down with the cleaner and taped before the kids go to school and hoping with any luck they will be dry and ready to paint when I get back from dropping them off.

Vacation Blahs.

Well we are 5 days into my vacation and with lots of projects planned, not really having much success. It has rained all 5 days and most of my projects were outdoor ones. I have all my supplies ready and waiting, I'm just waiting for the sun to break for a while so I can get outside. The rain is good for one thing, it's sure making the grass grow, but that is creating another outdoor project which I can't accomplish, mow the grass. I'm hoping for sun this weekend, wish me luck.

Vacation At Last

Tommorrow is my last day of work before I get to go on vacation, how exciting is that. This will be the first vacation I have ever take in which I have no where to go, no travelling. We will be staying home and doing odd jobs around the house that we really need to get completed. I am hopeful the weather will co-operate with us and allow us to get everything done. We are expecting company on the weekend and I would like to have all the little jobs done. There is some electrical work to do that my FIL is planning on helping me with but I have to have some room framing done first before he gets here. I'm looking for some relaxation as well...so wish me luck.

Love for Music

Our son was really wanting to learn how to play guitar, so much that he asked for a guitar for Christmas. Renovation Disappointment

We have been having some window/home renovations done lately at the house, all was going well at first and they had probably 90% of the work done in the first 3 days. They hit the snag when they went to do the siding and realized they had ordered the wrong siding in. It has been 2 weeks since they were last at the house and we are hopeing they will be back this week to finish up. It is frustrating because the front of our home has no siding and they had a few things inside to finish up that are waiting too so our kitchen is in turmoil. The good thing, we don't have to make any payments for the job until the work is all finished so everyday is one more day until I have to pay but it would be nice to finish it up.
