Where would you go

We have been thinking about taking a great family vacation that the kids will remember. To make it a lot easier to budget we need to find an all inclusive special that will allow us to focus on the entertainment and shopping with our budget. We all really want to get to somewhere warm so when thinking about booking a family vacation. The Karisma line of resorts offers beautiful accomadations with warm beaches and beautiful weather. They pride themselves on provided excellant service and atmosphere and offer a variety of different resorts to match your lifestyle needs. They offer a fabulouse variety of meals to match your culinary desires and special needs.

Jon and Kate???

I read an artical today on the computer and I can't believe it would be true but I guess anything is possible. The artical discussed in detail the adventures of Jon from Jon and Kate plus 8. In the aritical it talked about him sneaking out on the weekends to an area campus and having wild drunken parties with the school's volleyball team. It accused Jon of having make out sessions with these girls and many other things I wouldn't have expected. Perhaps the fame is getting to him and he is rebelling. If any of this artical is even remotely true I would expect Kate would be kickin his a** all around their new property.

take out crisis

We are having a terrible time fighting our take out cravings, we decided to make a stand and cut back and only have take out on the weekends. We found ourselves eating take out every day, we would have it for lunch or even worse eating late at night. Summer is coming and we want to watch our weights a bit more. This is day 3 and so far we are doing alright, we haven't had any take out. We have had the odd snack around the house, a cookie here or there but we are even trying to make sure we are eating healthier snacks, with fruit and yogurts being the favorite snack and water the beverage instead of pop or juice.

Shopping online

Being so completely time starved can be very frustrating so if you find you don't have time to keep up with your medical supply shopping you can turn to online shopping at sites like Allegromedical which have been the industry experts since 1996 and are now serving over 1 million clients. The site offers a great variety of medical equipment and home health care supplies. I was recently shopping for blood glucose monitors for my dad and found a great assortment online. They offer a safe and secure shopping environment and even have great specials, save 15% right now on your order with no minimum purchase required.

Weight loss tips

I certainly have hit a stall point on my weight loss, I found these tips on my MSN news today and thought it was pretty usefull, check it out it might help you kickstart things.

Still can't seem to shed the pounds? You could be sabotaging your weight loss success.

Avoiding Real Change
Too many of us view dieting as a miserable short-term solution, rather than a significant change in the way we live. Commitment to a healthier way of life necessitates more than just diet and exercise; it also requires a little soul searching. “Just ask Oprah, who’s been very open about the fact that her weight has shot back up again,” says Vancouver-based health and wellness expert and life coach, Dr. Susan Biali. “There’s really not much point in going through the intense effort of losing weight, if you don’t have a realistic, and enjoyable plan for sustaining that weight loss over the long term.”

What’s an enjoyable and healthy way of life for you? That’s a good question to ask yourself, and one that can help you set your overall goals. “I think the most fundamental, helpful change that will help people lose weight, is by seeing it as a gradual process, based on their natural likes and dislikes. Go with what you’ve already got. Use who you are as a guide for the most successful way to reach a healthy weight,” shares Dr. Biali.

The Quick Result Cult
We all want to lose ten pounds yesterday; hence the popularity of the juice fast or detox diet. “Shortcuts rarely, if ever (I’m tempted to say never), translate to anything lasting or worthwhile,” says Dr. Biali. “People need to let go of the temptation to want to find the “fastest” way to reach their goals – that’s actually a form of self-sabotage.”

Remember the story about The Tortoise and The Hare? Well the moral - slow and steady wins the race - can prove helpful in making a smart lifestyle change too.

Going to Extremes
No carbs, no sugar, no dairy! It’s the battle cry of the extreme dieter. It’s also an extreme path that more often leads to frustration. In Dr. Biali’s experience, people take on too much at once. “They’ll try to simultaneously cut out the two litres of pop they drink a day, stop going to fast food restaurants, stop snacking in front of the TV at night, and join a gym. Talk about a huge emotional, physical, and psychological shock! Drastic changes or programs will set you up for failure.”

Be gentle. Take the “one step at a time” approach. Week one: make a goal, like 'no late-night eating'. Week two: limit yourself to one small pop a day. Week three: join a gym. Incorporating slow lasting changes over time will ease the shock of withdrawal.

Following Diet Trends
Don’t fall for celebrity diet secrets or the latest diet book on the market. Most dieters “try to follow a diet regimen rather than working on creating new healthy, enjoyable habits that work for them,” shares Dr. Biali. And that’s counter productive to individual change. “They don’t really learn to incorporate practical changes into their pre-existing life, habits and preferences.”

Make your health and wellness a personal concern. Your program should reflect your strengths and weaknesses. “Identify simple changes that aren’t too hard for you to make. If you drink eight glasses of pop a day, rather than trying to go cold turkey, try substituting a diet version of pop instead, and see if you even notice the difference. I once even had a client start breaking her fast food habit by ordering a hamburger, instead of the usual cheeseburger (it’s a step!). Small changes, over time, make a huge difference.”

Conceding Defeat Too Soon
You didn’t go to the gym for a week. You snuck a can of Coke and a bag of popcorn at the movies. Big deal. Don’t let tiny bumps in the road become insurmountable obstacles to your overall success. “People tend to try an extreme diet or lifestyle change, and then give up when they find themselves falling back into old habits. It’s important to understand that change usually happens by taking two new steps forward, and one old step back,” says Dr. Biali.

Immune system boosters

I found this cool information on my MSN today, check it out it just might help you beet the winter downs.

Eat right this winter and you might just reduce your chances of falling victim to the common cold.
For your health: Five immune system boosting foods to add to your weekly grocery list.

Garlic
Garlic may be stinky but it just may help stave off the winter sniffles. A 2001 study found that people who took a daily garlic supplement that contained the compound allicin (allicin is produced when raw garlic is crushed or chopped) decreased their risk of cold by fifty percent. That’s not all. Those in the study who did have cold symptoms: sore throat, sniffles, etc sped up their recovery time significantly faster than those who took a placebo. Get allicin from the real deal: raw chopped or crushed garlic, anywhere from one to three cloves daily.

Shellfish & Beef
Oysters, crab, beef, even poultry and pork provide the body with the much needed mineral zinc, which in addition to its potent antioxidant power, also plays a significant role in cell growth and development and healthy immune response. Women should aim to get 9 mgs of zinc daily, men 11 mgs. Other zinc-rich foods: red meat, eggs, nuts and seeds, and wheat germ. For vegetarians, legumes, whole grains and nuts are good plant sources of the mineral.

Oranges
Oranges like many other fruits and vegetables are an excellent source of vitamin C. A number of studies have illustrated vitamin C’s beneficial effects on health. Though there’s no conclusive evidence to indicate that it can prevent a cold, vitamin C can support a healthy immune system and aid in your body’s ability to recover better if and when you do get sick. A powerful antioxidant, vitamin C further enhances health by taking on cell-damaging free radicals. Aim to eat 7 to 10 fruits and vegetables daily, or take a daily vitamin C supplement (500 mgs). Vitamin C-rich foods include: red pepper, cantaloupe, kiwi, orange juice, broccoli, kale and spinach.

Yogurt
Bacteria are good for you, or the active bacteria in yogurt and kefir appear to be anyway. A great source of calcium and protein, yogurt also contains healthy bacteria that some researchers believe contribute to a healthy digestive tract. These gut-friendly bacteria are believed to bolster the immune system’s response to unhealthy bacteria and increase resistance to immune-related diseases and infections. A yogurt a day or a daily probiotic may indeed keep you in cold fighting shape.

Carrots
Carrots are an excellent source of Vitamin A, specifically a group of compounds known as provitamin-A carotenoids. In addition to keeping bones and eyes healthy, vitamin A supports the immune system’s ability to fight bacteria and infection. Vitamin A-rich foods include carrots, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes, and dark green leafy vegetables like spinach. Aim to get five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Puppy surgery

Next week our puppy will be going off for her "no puppy" surgery. She was in and got needles this week and met her new vet. She wasn't too sure about him but warmed up to him, he was very disciplined and taught us some good ways to control the puppy and keep her in line. It was a very informative trip with some good tips on how to make her a good puppy and to get kids involved in her training. Here's hoping her surgery goes well and we will have a bit calmer puppy afterwards. Good Luck Breigh.

Fun time

Well last night I decided to get focused and get some things done around the house. I made a list of all sorts of little things that needed to get done and started crossing them off. I found this was very productive as normally I would do a couple of things and then sit down infront of the tv and get sucked into a show, but alas I had a list, had to keep going. Supper for the kids, done. Feed the dog, done. Clean up the kitchen and the days dishes, done. Kids homework, done. Laundry caught up, done. Hook up our new emergency phone, done. Get things ready for tommorrow, lunches and clothes for the kids, done. Pick up daughter at dance, get her home, get her to have a shower, done. Get everyone off to bed, done. OOPS, here it got off track, wife called and was having a pizza craving because one of the other teams at work were having it from her favorite place. I got the booty call to go get pizza and take it down for her supper time. It was kind of fun having a romantic pizza down at the end of the parking lot. Unfortuently the 1/2 hour passed to fast and she had to go back to work. Oh, by the way my oldest son is old enough to babysit so he stayed up while I was gone. Now back home to get back on track, did a bunch of computer blogging and jobs which kept me busy for a couple of hours. Almost time for wife to get home so I went and made a nice treat for her, her favorite strawberries dipped in sugar and put them down by the bed for her, with some nice music and the lights low. All is well, I'm off to bed, too bad wife had a long day and was worn out but that happens, Strawberries were good, naked cuddle, priceless. Thanks for the cool night hun.

Feeling worn out

It never seems to fail lately I have been having a hell of a time staying awake. I'm not sure what the issue is, well I guess I do know, I have been staying up late and have been extremly busy with work, running the kids to their stuff and trying to stay on top of projects around the house. I am off for the weekend so I am looking forward to possibly catching up on all of those things by Monday, wish me luck.

What a game

I haven't made it to my son's basket ball games in about a month, they were a rough team and weren't working very well together. They had a tournament over the weekend and I was able to get to a couple of the games and I was shocked. I wasn't sure if I was watching the same team. They played fantastic, good passing, shooting, ball sharing. They actually won the 2 games I went to and my son won the MVP for the second game. I was very proud of him and the team. They have another tournament this weekend so I am excited to see the next game.
